Chris had to say, she wasn't happy with what circumstances she found herself in. Of course she'd said yes to the question that appeared before her—how could she not?! But she hadn't expected to be taken to another world, least of all one with monsters that had a vague at best plan to accomplish their goals.

Still, she couldn't ignore the threat to her home, or the creatures in need in this world. She had to do something.

Right now though? All she could do was sit on a bench in the park, leaning her head on her hands and generally looking sad. Her partner hadn't shown up yet, and she had no idea where to go to end up looking for one. So all she could do is wait..

"The home I fought for..." she said, sadly. "Is it really so far away?"

The Great And Powerful So-And-So

By now, Chris had met her partner, and... well, they were partners. She couldn't say whether they would get along or not, but this Missimon seemed pretty cynical and hard to convince. Nevertheless, Chris knew they had to get to work accomplishing something, so she'd pursued one of those jobs that were on offer.

The one she selected meant walking the streets at night. Apparently something called a "Devimon" was attacking and scaring people. She checked the handbook on her phone, err, "digivice", and gotten some eyewitness testimony, and something immediately felt fishy. Her time in S.O.N.G. had taught her a thing or too, so she was able to get a sense of where the attacks usually occurred, so she started looking there... and it paid off!

"Hold it right there!" Chris announced to a shadowy figure in an alleyway. "Come on out, you pretender!"

Said shadowy figure loomed over her, rickety wings spread against the knight sky and red eyes gleaming like flashlights. It cried out, its voice legion, and demanded: "Who dares disturb Devimon the great and powerful?!"

Missimon shook her head from behind Chris. "This is going to end in disaster," she sighed.

[ Hibiki, meanwhile, is in the middle of her daily run around the park with Coronamon... in which she's been going for a while now, and has thus worked up a bit of a sweat... until she spots a familiar figure sitting on a nearby bench. ]

Is that...? Ah! It is!

H-Hey! What are you suddenly speeding up for!?

[ Chris may be able to notice someone fully sprinting in her direction, at which point... ]

CHRIS-CHAAAAAAN!!

[ Incoming: one very sweaty hug. ]

"You can't be serious," Solarmon said as both he and Miku walked through the city, looking around for sight of this Devimon. Which would probably be easier to find and surprise if Solarmon wasn't complaining all the time like he always did.

"Of course I'm serious. I was brought here to help and we're supposed to be saving the world. This is something that'll... sorta be doing that last part and will definitely be doing the first part," Miku answered, frowning as they walked. Well, while she walked and Solarmon floated.

"Devimon is an adult level digimon! A stupidly strong adult level digimon! We. Are. Going. To. Die!"

"Come on, it can't be that bad if they're letting us-" The rest of Miku's sentence is interrupted by "Devimon's" rant. And also the fact that someone very familiar was there too.

"Chris-chan?"

Either way she's going to head closer to Chris and the Devimon now because, yeah, that was happening and also one of her friends was there. Solarmon, to his credit, just grumbled but still followed along despite his belief in, you know, their impending doom.

There's a sound of tiny footsteps frantically running towards that alleyway. "Over here! I heard something over here! Hajime, you gotta hurry!" A Cutemon skids to a halt nearby, eyes growing big and round at the sight of the shadowy figure that is...menacing?...Missimon and Chris. "Holy cow!"

He does not think about what a cow is. He does not know.

[Somehow, Chris managed to slide over on the bench at just the right moment to avoid the hug.

Nevertheless, she shot up out of her seat, eyes wide.]

D-Dummy?! I mean—Hibiki?! You're here too?!

Chris was about to react to the "Devimon's" declaration, when she heard a familiar voice. She spun around on her heel, and her eyes widened.

"M-Miku?!" she cried. "What are—no, stay back! We have to-"

Before she could say anything else, however, the "creature" she confronted slammed into her, knocking her out into the street.

The "Devimon" screeched, and raised his "claws"...which now, in better lighting, appeared to be three wooden planks connected together with nails at the end for fingers.

"Fool! Ignore the great and powerful Devimon at your own peril!"

Bwugah...!

[ Dang, Chris really has adapted to be able to avoid her hugs... what's she supposed to do now!? Aside from crashing onto the bench in a fantastic fashion.

Not at all bothered, however, Hibiki shoots up as well. ]

Mm! Yeah! I can't believe you're here too, Chris-chan! Where have you been!? I didn't see you when I got here!

[ She's clearly radiating her usual level of Dummy-Positivity. ]

Chris was about to answer the "creature" before her, when she heard Cutemon's voice. She wheeled around, snarling. "Are you stupid?!" she shouted. "Get out of here!"

That gave "Devimon" the opportunity to attack, swooping low, forcing Chris to duck down. The so-called Fallen Angel sailed over her and Missimon, and rose up into the street.

"You will pay for your insolence!" three voices called out, slightly out of sync. "Demon's Ray!"

The attack, however, came not from its eyes, but its mouth, and it wasn't a ray of any kind... but rather, a large needle and syringe, which flew at Cutemon.

Their aim was clearly bad.

[Chris shook her head, leaning forward to help Hibiki steady herself.]

I just got here a few hours ago! Why, how long have you been waiting?!

[chalicejoker]

Bad aim or not, a dark figure leaps out, grabs Cutemon, rolls away, deposits Cutemon safely off to the side, and then as soon as he's back on his feet, immediately and aggressively lunges at the dark figure in a flying tackle. "No one attacks him and gets away with it!"

Enjoyed a keyed-up and fighty Kamen Rider, kids.

Chris barely had time to react, before a figure from outside of some tokusatsu show came barreling out of nowhere and saved Cutemon. She grit her teeth and followed the direction of the attack...just as the tackle knocked Devimon out of the sky, disconnecting it from its head.

Said head fell to the ground, with a pair of clawed feet sticking out, flailing wildly.

"F-Fool!" the "head" said. "This is but a minor injury!"

"NOW RELEASE US!" the body cried, wriggling in its attacker's arms.

Chris blanched, and ran over to the head, putting her foot down on it. "None of you are going anywhere!"

I got here yesterday! I thought that me and Miku were the only ones here!

[ Nevermind the fact that apparently, despite having apparently answered YES around the same days as each other, Miku ended up here a month before her. ]

But now you're here! I bet that means everyone else will be here soon too!

Oi... who the heck is that?

[ And now Chris should be able to notice Coronamon, finally catching up to Hibiki and speaking up after catching his breath. ]

Hajime was not expecting the creature to split into two, but at least he still had a hold of a third of it. He considered the demand to be released and responded by punching the bit he was holding. Not hard, just enough to remind it who was in charge here. "If you want us to make this harder for you, that can be arranged."

Cutemon's walked a bit closer now, looking over curiously. He considered what Hajime was doing, then punched the one Hajime was holding too. The force of this punch would likely go completely unnoticed. "Yeah! What he said!" His Tamer's so cool! And a bad influence!

[Chris actually gasped.]

Miku is here? But not senpai?! Or Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika?!

[She looked over at Coronamon upon his entry.]

I'd say the same thing about you, buddy! Are you supposed to be Hibiki's whatchacallit... partner?

Chris couldn't fault Hajime for his methods, considering she was standing on one third of her perp. "Keep a hold on them," she said, before reaching down and pulling the occupant of "Devimon's" head out, revealing an upside down PicoDevimon held by his leg.

"INSOLENCE!" the bat-like Digimon cried. "Place me back inside my head at once!"

Meanwhile, another PicoDevimon poked out of the "body", its eyes glinting as they made eye contact with Hajime. "Evil Whisper!" it sighed, sending hypnotic waves at their captor.

Mm... and apparently Miku was here for a month before I arrived! It's super confusing!

[ Coronamon puffs out his chest and grins. ]

Yep! I'm Coronamon! The best partner anybody could ask for!

[ Well, he's a better partner now at least now that he's figured out that Hibiki isn't actually a 'pushover' as he called her. She even got him to apologize! ]

[Chris balked, before turning back towards Hibiki.]

A month?! But I saw you both yesterday! That's impossible!

[Then she turned back towards Coronamon.]

Uh...huh. That's good for you, I guess. My partner hasn't chosen to show themselves yet.

[chalicejoker]

This is not an attack vector Hajime had not been expecting. He suddenly went very still, shuddered, and growled softly before his form rippled and pulsed into some sort of large humanoid insect monster. He then bellowed a roar of challenge at the top of his lungs. Surprise, everyone!

Because he has not discussed his tragic backstory with Cutemon, Cutemon had no idea what was happening. He squeaked in alarm and fell back down onto his butt. "H-Hajime?"

Chris's eyes widened. "What the hell?!" she and the PicoDevimon both cried.

"Uh...did we do something bad, boss?" said the second PicoDevimon poking his head out of the body.

"That monster evolved!" the first PicoDevimon shouted. "Get out of there!"

"I knew it would end up like this," Missimon whined from her hiding spot.

Right!? We were even both at home when I got that question thing!

[ Oh, how distressed she was when she found out... leaving her girlfriend alone for a month! Not that there's anything she could've done, but still! She just... she feels bad! ]

Do you think it's some weird time thing? Like in Master's movies?

[ Mind, Genjuro's movies can get pretty wild, but still. ]

Eh? You haven't found your partner yet?

[Chris's head was starting to hurt.]

This other dimension stuff is confusing. How the hell do we even know if we're from the same point in time, or even the same universe?!

[At Hibiki's question, she shook her head.]

I haven't...They're supposed to show up, right? I have no idea why they haven-

[Just then, Chris fell forward, letting out a shriek, just as something smacked into the back of her head.]

The monster jerks suddenly when the PicoDevimon is no longer trying to play games with that attack, seemingly comes to, and starts kind of frantically fumbling at the card box on his waist. "...the hell?!" There is a very definite note of distress in his voice.

Cutemon's still sitting there looking confused. "Um..." He looks back at the PicoDevimon as he stands up. "I think you guys better go before he gets really mad! Really really mad! And you better not do it again, or, uh, we'll find you! Yeah!" There is a bit of air punching there, but really, he's just trying to stall for time. Keep everyone distracted! Yeah! He decides that this is still Hajime, and so he jumps up onto one of Hajime's shoulder spikes for good measure. Still his Tamer! He staggers a bit when Hajime's swiped another card and resumed his usual armored form, but somehow remains.

Chris stared. "What...what the hell just happened?!" she cried, before shaking her head. "You know what? Nevermind. This is all too much for me."

She held up the shrieking PicoDevimon leader. "We can't let them go, we need to take these little monsters to Sheriff Tyrannomon. They've frightened and injured people."

"The weak will perish!" the leader shouted. "Release us at once, large chested human!"

Chris didn't even have to look at them before she punched them.

[chalicejoker]

"He'll do the scary thing again if you don't cooperate!" Cutemon is just rolling with this now. "And she'll keep using you as a punching bag, too!"

Hajime sighs and goes to grab one of the other PicoDevimon. He'd rather go brood somewhere now but he's not going to be afforded that luxury yet, is he? "What does the Sheriff do with them, anyway?" He considers it. "Where I come from, such troublemakers would be sealed away for ten thousand years."

Look, Cutemon, he can scare them without calling back to what just happened, thanks.

Eh!? You think we might not even be each other's Hibiki and Chris!? No no no, you're totally my Chris! I'm sure of it!

[ Her non-existent reasoning behind that conclusion doesn't get to be explored, though, as Chris' ability to dodge Hibiki clearly doesn't extend to anything else. ]

Ah! Chris-chan!!

"Chris-chan!"

Miku didn't really pay much attention to what Chris said about her pulling back, quickly running over to the other girl instead.

"You idiot! Why are you running towar-" Solarmon's protests are cut off when he realizes that the Devimon's claws were... not claws. But wood. His eyes narrow, and then he moved to closer to the "Devimon". "Sol Calor!"

So yeah, despite being terrified before, Solarmon was now shooting out fire right at the "Devimon".
