It turns out that Sunflowmon’s recommendation to go to the Digimon nursery is actually a great idea for Lena to find a job in Access City. While she may have very little experience in teaching besides teaching arts and crafts at a summer camp, she does have the talent and more than enough art knowledge to earn an art teacher slot in the nursery.

What she and Lunamon didn’t expect upon arriving at the nursery is that there are way too many Baby I and Baby II Digimon who are beginning to hatch out of their eggs that the staff running it are hoping to find for any help they can get. Kangarumon has given the two of them a brief rundown so far and gives them the task to help her and her staff in feeding and taking care of the newly little Digimon; she says that she can hire Lena for the arts program teaching position in a little bit. One little baby Digimon decides to tug on her shoe’s shoelaces as if it was a teething toy, thankfully not going for the Pants so far.

“Okay, I didn’t expect these little ones to be this energetic today,” Lena observes the teething Digimon while she is currently rocking a crying Gummymon to sleep (which is not going well for her at the moment) as Lunamon tries to bottle feed a pair of Poyomon.

“Oh my, Lena-san! These Poyomon are very hungry and I haven’t gotten to the other milk bottles for the other baby Digimon just yet. I do hope that someone can help us in looking after these Digimon while Kangarumon is attending to a group of Pokomon at the moment,” Lunamon chimes in as she looks at the diminishing milk inside the bottles.

Well, fortunately for Lena and Lunamon, Hikari and Tailmon knew very well how much of a handful dealing with baby digimon could be. Of course, it's one thing have some experience with helping taking care of some baby digimon sometimes, and it's another one to come by to help out with the daycare.

Because there sure were a lot of babies being hatched right now and both Hikari and Tailmon walk in right when Lunamon's saying her words to her partner. Tailmon blinks and looks at the whole thing going on, before letting out a small sigh. "We're going to be so exhausted at the end of the day," she said before heading over to a group of Botamon who were staring at Lunamon with the bottles.

Hikari shakes her head at Tailmon's comment, before looking at the baby digimon that was trying to eat the other woman's shoes. Well, that wasn't going to do, so Hikari quickly moves over there and picks the baby digimon up. "Come on, let's get you something else to chew on instead of her shoes," she coos at the baby digimon before turning her attention back over to the other woman. "Are we the only ones here right now?"

Oh look at the good timing, there is somebody who has some experience with dealing with baby Digimon and she is finally relaxing a bit after Hikari steps in to stop the baby Digimon from biting onto her shoes.

“Well, it appears that the rest of the nursery staff is busy attending to more newly hatched baby Digimon at the moment, so it looks like we’re the only ones looking after these guys right now,” Lena replies to the other woman while still having a hard time calming the crying Gummymon to sleep.

“Please behave yourselves, little Botamon: I’ll get to bottle feeding you once I’m done with the current group, I promise,” Lunamon tries to beg the Botamon to wait a little more.

"Don't worry about it, I'll take care of them." Was feeding babies something Tailmon really wanted to do? Not really, but they were hungry and they needed to eat, so off Tailmon went to go get another couple of bottles prepared. Not that she'd be able to feed more than one of them at once, but better to have them ready than have to make each Botamon wait for the bottles to be ready.

Before Hikari could react to Lena's statement, the Punimon in her arms decided that trying to gnaw on her arm now that shoes were not in reach. Hikari giggles at it, thankfully being a Baby I digimon there weren't any teeth yet for her to have to worry about. "Then I guess it's a good thing that Tailmon and I decided to volunteer here." Well, it was more that Hikari volunteer and Tailmon deciding that she didn't want to be away from Hikari while she was doing it even if she was just going to be in the daycare in the city.

Either way, the other woman had a baby digimon that was still crying, so... "Do you think he or she is hungry?"

“Oh thank goodness for coming to help us. I thought for a moment that me and my partner couldn’t be able to look after and feed the baby Digimon on our own,” Lunamon lets out a sigh of relief as soon as Tailmon comes to assist in bottle feeding the Botamon.

She will admit that it is a little tricky when you have plenty of hungry newly hatched baby Digimon waiting to have milk to be given onto them.

“Erm, I haven’t checked just yet. I might have forgotten to do just that,” she admits to Hikari as she tries to comfort the crying Gummymon in her arms, “I think that I might have let it slipped past my mind while I was trying to rock them to sleep.”

Fortunately, it doesn't take that long for Tailmon to get those bottles ready, and she brings them over to Lunamon and the group of babies before picking one of them up. "Yeah. I really don't know how the caretaker digimon deal with all the babies usually. Back in my digital world, Elecmon pretty much has to care of them by himself," Tailmon said, grabbing one of the bottles beginning to feed the cute thing.

The other Botamon let out a bit of a whining noise, and Tailmon looked over at them. Sorry! I can feed one of you at once." Not that she really expected the babies to understand that, considering these ones weren't, well, talking.

Hikari nodded at Lena's comment. "I don't blame you, there's a lot of babies here to take care of." She then turns her attention to the Punimon who was still chewing at her arm. "And what about you? Are you hungry?"

The Punimon stops chewing on Hikari's arm for a moment, looking up at Hikari. And then she just went back to trying to bite Hikari's arm. "...I think I might need to take that as a yes."

Lunamon gladly nods in return as she cradles and feeds another set of Botamon after the ones she was feeding are now fed and happy. Hopefully the babies will be well taken care of faster than they can imagine.

Hoping to finally calm the crying Gummymon, Lena walks up to one of the unused filled milk bottles and asks them if they are hoping to fed, “Hi little one, do you want a bottle as well? I have one on hand right now.”

The Gummymon, gasping at the sight of the milk bottle, ceases crying and starts to babble and cooing happily. She takes that as a yes and she proceeds to put the bottle onto the baby Digimon’s mouth and the Gummymon gleefully begins to drink the milk. It is now beginning to calm down and no longer crying any more.

Okay. Okay, good. Just a bunch of hungry babies. That's something that's very easy for them all to take care of. Hikari moves over to the bottles as well, since she did still have a baby chewing on her arm. She grabs the bottle, and looks over at the baby. "Come on Punimon. Let's get you something that you can actually eat."

The Punimon stops it's gnawing on Hikari's arm to look at the bottle for a few moments. But only for a few moments. Then it's right back to trying to chew Hikari's arm up.

Tailmon finishes feeding that one Botamon, and puts it down to grab a bottle for the next one. And she might just be chuckling a little. "I think she might just want to chew on stuff, Hikari."

Hikari sighs, then turns her attention back to Lena. "Well, at least food turned out to be what Gummymon wanted, right?"

“Yep, it is correct. Glad that I was able to attend to Gummymon’s needs and it’s now happy as we speak,” Lena speaks as she both feeds and rocks the baby Gummymon in her arms as relief finally comes in to calm her nerves and keep her worries at bay.

Lunamon nods as she bottle feeds the Botamon and looks after them, “This new batch of newly hatched Digimon must be very eager to make their entrance into the Digital World. Quite a lively bunch, I will admit.”

Tailmon grabs the next bottle and pulls another Botamon into her arms and starts to feed him. Or her. It was hard to tell with baby digimon. "In my experience, that just seems pretty normal for most baby digimon." Then again, most of the time when she was helping with baby digimon it was usually after something bad that had happened, so maybe her experience was just a little bit skewed.

"Yeah, that's good," Hikari said after a moment of being distracted by having a digimon gnaw on her arm even more. Hopefully the Punimon would stop with that soon. She does start to try to rock the baby a little to see if that'd help. "Anyway, I'm Hikari. What's your name?"

“Lena, nice to meet you, Hikari,” Lena introduces herself to her while rocking the Gummymon, “I’m pretty new to this world myself.”

Lunamon also has a hard time trying to get the baby Digimon’s gender as well since there are plenty of them at the nursery but she can look into that next time. After the Botamon she has feed become more full, she turns her attention to another set of baby digimon, this time a pair of Petitmon, upon getting new set of bottles and proceeds to feed them.

“Now open up your mouths, Petitmon,” she encourages them to bite onto the bottle nipples and take in the milk, which they happily did.

Hikari almost giggles at Lena's statement, but then the Punimon decided to stop chewing on Hikari's arm and let out a pleased gurgling noise which distracted her from Lena's statement for a moment. Not that it was really something she wasn't expecting, considering how everyone got here.

"Yeah. Most of us who've been brought here haven't had to deal with any Digital Worlds before," Hikari said as she rocked the Punimon some more. "But Tailmon and I aren't the only ones here who have dealt with the Digital World before. And feel free to ask me any questions you have about... well, anything dealing with this current situation."

“Oh yes, I have a couple of them. Like how much of a danger Alias does pose to worlds outside of this?” Lena admits to Hikari while gently rocking the Gummymon a little more, which is getting the little one to slowly inching closer to sleep.

Lunamon is still pretty busy feeding the Petitmon at the moment, the little dragon-like baby Digimon are happily taking in the milk from the bottles. Despite the chaos that has happened a while ago, Lunamon is taking great joy in looking after the little baby Digimon very much. Was it because of her personality or maybe it was due to her not giving up that easily?

Wow Lena going for one of the hard questions right away weren't you? "Honestly, I'm not really sure," Hikari says while still paying some attention to the Punimon in her arms. "If it really is linked to the distortions that are happening, then yeah, it's really bad for all of our worlds even if Alias itself can only affect Digimon. If the balance of the Digital World gets changed enough, it'll start affecting every other world out there."

And considering how close her own Digital World came to being in such a state multiple times, it wasn't something that she was going to let happen if she could help it.

Tailmon finally finishes feeding that last baby, and puts it down before going to clean up all the empty bottles. Or at least that was her plan. The various Botamon she had been feeding didn't seem to like that idea, and jumped on top of her instead. "Hey, stop it! I need to clean all this up first!"

Oh dear, this might be a lot worse than she could’ve imagined. Lena could feel her heart wanting to drop from her chest as she cradles the Gummymon who is now on the verge of falling asleep in her arms. Nothing could disturb the little one that easily now even while the Botamon decide to gather around Tailmon.

Lunamon could also see that happening that she hops in to help Tailmon out with the crowd control once the Petitmon is finally full, “Oh my, please behave yourselves, Botamon! There is no need to rush things so quickly. The bottles don’t refill themselves fast enough.”

Hikari notices that change in Lena's expression, moving the Punimon in her arms for a few moments before she spoke again. "Don't worry. There's a lot of us who've been brought here, and we'll be able to handle it. We always managed to."

At Lunamon's comment, Tailmon can't help but frown. "Oh, are they still hungry? I thought they decided it was time to play now." One of the Botamon let out some sort of gurgling sound before jumping right at Lunamon, which didn't actually give an answer on if the horde of babies want to play or wanted more food. Either way, the bottles still needed to be cleaned.

“Oh my! This is getting out of hand. We need to clean up the bottles first before we can play with you, oof!” Lunamon barely got to inform the Botamon that she needs to clean up the bottles when the Botamon lands on her and begins to snuggle up to her as if she is a teddy bear.

“Oh, Lunamon? Are you going to be okay over there?” Lena checks in with her Digimon partner upon hearing the Botamon that is wanting to play with her.

“It’s a tad bit chaotic in here, I’m afraid. This one is a very eager little one,” Lunamon responds back while trying to get the Botamon to behave themselves.

Yeah, sorry Lunamon. But tiny babies aren't really good at the whole 'listening on why you can't play' thing. Hikari's attention turns over to Lunamon though, and she giggles before putting the Punimon down on the floor. The Punimon let out a bit of a sad trilling noise, but it was only for a moment before it moved and bounced onto Tailmon. Which another couple of Botamon took as a cue to also jump on her.

"Hey, wait a second!"

Nope, more bouncing babies on top of her. It was a bit of a funny sight, actually. "Don't worry Tailmon. I'll take care of the bottles."

"But that's the easier-" Tailmon didn't get to finish that sentence because, well, more babies wanting attention. Hopefully Hikari would be able to get the bottles cleaned before the babies turned their attention back to her.

“Well, these little one are full of energy, aren’t they?” Lena takes note as she gently puts the sleeping Gummymon onto its crib before attending to Lunamon and Tailmon who are getting surrounded by energetic little babies wanting to play with them.

The energy these little ones give off has reminded her a lot of Bridget in her best days. Even though the blond soccer player had lost her mom a while back, she doesn’t seem to let it get to her for the most part. Lunamon meanwhile just barely got her bearings back after she got play tackled by the Botamon moments ago.

"Unfortunately, this is pretty typical," Tailmon muttered out now that she had someone to help her with the babies since her partner wasn't going to. "And Hikari wants to teach kindergarten, which means that by the time she finishes this'll be our life all the time."

Hikari giggles as she starts to clean one of the bottles. "It'll be fine."

"By the time you're done with school and we're teaching all the kid's back home are going to have digimon partners. And they'll probably be babies!"

Hikari turns her attention to Lena while she scrubs the bottle. "Well, anyway, she's right about this is a pretty typical level of energy for baby digimon."

“That does explain a lot for sure,” Lunamon nods as she sees her partner coming to help her and Tailmon with wrangling the baby Digimon.

“So you have been learning to be a kindergarten teacher back home?” Lena asks Hikari while she is scooping up some of the babies with her arms and trying to cradle them to sleep or at least try to.

“It must be fascinating for the human youth to have partners of their own. Though I do wish that they will need to be careful in looking after them,” Lunamon adds as she turns her attention to the Botamon who was snuggling her and attempts to bring them back to the crib.

"Well, that's the plan, anyway. I still haven't started most of the classes I need for it," Hikari admits while she's washing those bottles. "And yeah, I get why you're worried too. Young kids aren't really able to take care of baby digimon. But most people who have digimon partners where I'm from met them when they were kids. Just, not as young as kindergarten age."

"But more and more people are becoming partnered with Digimon," Tailmon said. "So it'll probably only be a matter of time before everyone has-"

Tailmon didn't have time to finish that sentence before another Botamon jumped up on her and tried to go for her ear.

“Oh my, are you going to be alright, Tailmon?” Lunamon asks her while she tries to get the Botamon to calm down.

“Oh, so there are kids who are old enough to have Digimon partners and know what they are doing,” Lena curiously asks as she scoops up some of the Botamon and tries to rock them gently as she brings them to the cribs, sounds almost a lot like Takato and Guilmon to her.

Tailmon frowned at what was happening, but well, it's not like the baby digimon were going to be able to actually hurt her. "I'm fine. Just... being a chew toy." At the very least, Lunamon's attempts and calming down the Botamon do seem to be doing something to help. At least with keeping more of them from jumping at her.

"Yeah. I mean, I met Tailmon when I was eight," Hikari said. "Though I was one of the younger ones at the time. And Tailmon was already Tailmon, so it's not like I had to figure out how to take care of a baby digimon at the time." Which was good, since they were a little preoccupied with the evil digimon trying to destroy the world and kill them.

Thank goodness that the Botamon are starting to become less rowdy once Lunamon and Lena stepped in: the former keeping their energy in check and the latter putting them back to the cribs once they show signs of getting very sleepy. At least things are starting to slow down at the nursery on their end.

Lena quietly nods as she quietly tucks some of the sleepy Botamon back in the cribs and gently pat them on the heads. Meanwhile Lunamon’s efforts to curb the more hyper of the baby Digimon’s energy are starting to work well as many of them are starting to pay attention to her voice calming them down.
