Hajime's not exactly used to having a cheering section while he works...or worrying about collateral damage beyond protecting a single person...but he's trying to keep things contained. No special attacks of his own, no weapons. Just punching and kicking, which is easier said than done when your opponents are shorter than you are.
Picking up the Goblimon he initially disarmed and throwing it at the others probably is not the most heroic course of action, but it certainly seems to be the most prudent one. The win isn't coming as fast as Hajime would like--he can tell he's weaker than he would be normally, which is not a realization that sparks joy.
